Maria Mölsä Cinematographer

BIO

Originally from Finland, Maria Mölsä is a London based cinematographer, and a graduate of the nationally acclaimed Bournemouth Film School, where she also received The Ossie Morris Prize for Cinematography. Her work includes commercials, short films, music videos, and documentary projects. Maria has experience working on both film and digital mediums. In 2022 a commercial she shot on 16mm was awarded in the Kodak Nahemi Student Commercial Awards. Her cinematography is a combination of Scandinavian melancholy and deep, vibrant colours that stem primarily from her love to cultures. Prior to moving into film, Maria studied anthropology, and before turning 25 she had worked, travelled, and volunteered in 6 continents. This earlier experience can be seen not only in the images she creates, but in the way she approaches each project with understanding and consideration.

Since starting in the industry as a camera trainee, Maria has worked for and learned from DP's such as Robbie Ryan BSC ISC, Ashley Barron ACS, and Emmanuel Lubezki ASC, AMC. She has gathered experience from major features and HETV series, as well as commercials and other short form productions in the UK and abroad. Within 2 years of graduating university, Maria became an established camera assistant in London, while also working as an operator in productions such as Tour de France (Netflix documentary series) in 2023. This experience in different productions in London and around the world has taught her the invaluable knowledge of how different sets are run.
